THE PEOPLE’S CHAIR.
Didier celebrates the harmony of democratic design and understated utility with the GUNZEL Seating collection.

Formerly derogatory, the word “gunzel” originated from the Sydney Tramway Museum in the 1960’s as a term for the harebrained rail fans from south-of-the-boarder; ‘the Victorians’, who shot at things with cameras.

GUNZEL exists at the intersection of the familiar and the elusive - a collection of timber chairs that whisper of civic spaces, transit hubs, and the unspoken choreography of public life. Embodying the essence of democratic design, each piece showcases the raw dignity and beauty of timber; stripped-back with grace and simplicity.

GUNZEL pays homage to traditional joinery techniques and durable materials. Engineered in solid timber, the seating collection is designed with a smart and formal geometry but retains an organic comfort that is sculpted into the backrest.
